At the start of the academic year the practices were conducted as scheduled. Karatekas were very keen in taking part in the practices. They participated in many tournaments of which they brought much pride to Alethea International School.
In December 2009, out Karatekas participated in the 1st Silent Knight International Karate Do Federation Tournament held at the Sugathadasa Stadium. Three of our Karatekas got qualified for the selection of the National Team of Sri Lanka.
In January 2010, two of our Senior Karatekas took part in the 1st Silent Knight International Karate Championship held at Kualampure, Malaysia.
Miss Dilani Amendra the Captain of our team won the Bronze medal for the Katha event while Master Nandika Thewarapperuma became the best 8th in Kumite event among 52 participants.
Then came the 1st Inter-International School Karate Championship organized by Leeds International School, Panadura in which 11 schools participated. It's a great pleasure to say that our Alethean Karatekas brought great pride to their Alma Mater at this meet as usual. They won 16 medals which include 6 gold medals.
