Scouting started in Alethea International school under the guidance of a National Training Team Leader and a Leader Trainer, Miss.Ira Perera, as the 30th Colombo Scout group comprising of Senior scouts, Junior scouts, and Cub scouts of about 50 members. Mr.Hemakumara Chandraratna, a wood badge holder helped us 1st as the group leader and later it was given to Mr.Vipula Eranajan, another wood badge holder.

At the beginning late Bridg.Hapugalle appreciated this movement by sharing his presence at badge awarding ceremonies and camps
• 4th Jamboree at Pallekele Kandy and they were
  awarded for Arena show
• 5th jamboree at Nuwara Eliya, 25 Scouts and their scout
  leader participated
Our scouts and Cub Scouts participated in the following camps :-
• Akila Silva at Sathahib Malaysia
• Travin Manuel at Thailand
From 1996 upto to this date all scouts and cub scouts of Alethea have participated for each and every camp at
Vihara Maha Devi park, and have won many awards throughout the years.
They participated for the special activities and won a number of awards:-

• Backwood style of cooking
• Campfire
• Talent Shows
• Cultural Shows
• Competitions
• Get togethers' with other schools
• Group activities
• Workshops organized by the head quarters
We won the award for the talent show, and Alethea was very well recognized for the following:-

• Best Camp entrance for 2007
• Best Camp site for 2008
• Best Kitchen for 2010
In 2001, it was a year of great success. The most significant year for most scouts.

• 10 gold star recipients
• 01 presidents award winner, ie. Naveen DeSilva

This achievement was published in the newspapers for it being the 1st time an international school has received gold stars and a president award.

After that our cub scouts have been awarded with gold stars year after year.

2009 is another significant year for the Alethean scout group.For the 1st time in Sri Lanka "Girls in scouting" was introduced.
For the Opening Cermony which was held at Avissawelle, five of our cub scout girls participated. They we badged as (Cub scout girls).

The 1st girl (cub scout) who was introduced for the A.P.R magazine from Sri Lanka, Sudari Ratnayake, Garland the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony for the 47th camporee (2010).

We are proud to say that our School has a troop of girls who are doing "girls in scouting".

They took part for the 47th Camporee and participated for all the camp activities held at the camp this year.
During this period scouts have gained a lot in their scouting knowledge. We are proud to say our activities in school have risen to a higher level. Membership in scouting and Girls in Scouting according to the rules given by the National Head Quarters have been a great success.
Almost all activities scheduled for the year plan is according to,
        a. Group Level
        b. District Level
        c. National Level
Two workshops were completed during these two years. All cub scouts and scouts completed most of their requirements for their badges.
The cub scouts stayed for only one night while the scouts stayed for two nights after the camp fire.
• All cub scouts and scouts of Alethea participated for all   the activities held according to the district level.

• The cub scouts of Alethea participated in the cuboree,
  which is a holiday camp for all cub scouts which was
  held at Royal College from 19th - 21st February 2010.
  Two senior scouts Mahesh and Trevin along with some
  primary school teachers participated in this event.


• All scouts in including girls in scouting participated in the
  District camps held in these two years at the vihara man
  devi park. Many awards were won along with the best
  kitchen in of the whole camp site and the usual awards
  for inspection.
  The opening ceremony of the recent district camp
  inwhich Alethea had to give an opening dance was a
  great success with the help of Mrs. Janadani Salgoda.
  The cub scouts too along with some teachers
  participated in this event.

• The girls in scouting too participated in the annual
  District camp. They too were given a camp site which
  they had to maintain and compete with the rest of the
  other camps.

• The senior scouts of Alethea participated in PLC
  chairmans workshop and a camp held for two days.
• All cub scouts and scouts participated at the National
  Relationship Week (job week)

• A community project organized by the scouts of
  Alethea proved to be aa great success. With all their
  effort and expenses they had to clean an paint
  the Devala in the Sri Maha Bodhi temple. The work was
  highlyappreciated by the temple high priest.
• our senior scouts completed all the requirements for
  the commissioners cord award. They are Trevin
  Ludowyk, Kasun Abeysinghe, Travin Manual, Heruka
  Andradi.Some of the requirements are the 32km hike,
  venturer badgeetc.
• Suresh kumar Dilukshan completed his requirements
  and was awarded the District Commissioners Cord.

• Six scouts and two girls in scouting won the scout
  award.

Our primary teachers and the dancing teacher, who helped us greatly, especially for the cub day. Ms.Natalia , Ms.Amra , Ms.Nadika helped them to do the activities and Mrs.Janadari Salgadoo helped our Alethean girls to perform a wonderfull dance for the opening ceremony of the 47th camporee at the Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Air Theatre.

Buwenake, who was an excellent scout and the Marathon race champion.

Our Group Scout Master, Vipula Eranjan, who could not attend the camp this time, but helped us to carry out the pre-camp preparations for the 47th camp.

Our teacher incharge is a "Leader Trainer" with all her experiences for about 40 years of Scouting. She acted as the "Course Director" for the 65th Wood Badge course which was held at Mirigame. Up to this date she has been Awarded with "Presidents Award" for three times
